The last time I walked on land the shelves at all stores were full of toilet paper .
The last time I was on land they were still playing basketball .
The last time I was on land oil prices were close to double what they are now.
The last time I was on land the state I live in (Louisiana) did not have a single reported case of covid-19. Now it’s one of the hot beds of the entire world and I have no choice but to stop in New Orleans for a few things on Wednesday .

I finally come home to land for the first time since March the 10Th this Wednesday .

Its amazing how much things have changed since I came out to the Gulf of Mexico for work .

I don’t know if I’m happy about avoiding the last 3 weeks or if I’m mad .

Don't get too happy. We're in for some bad shit for at least months. Probably years.

What are you oil guys thinking about the price of oil? Will it last? If it does what will it do to American oil (and gas) companies?

Chop got pigeons covered in oil as souvenirs so you know he isn't worried about this.

Sucks Zion probably be 371 pounds by the time NBA gets back though.

Its very bad obviously .
Oil is one of the most difficult commodities in the world to predict .

Some of the same people who said it will be 80$ a barrel in a year 3 months ago are some of the same people who are saying it will be 10$ a barrel 3 months from now .

I think fracking is pretty much dead unless some unbelievable robotics get invented to extract the oil that cuts the cost by at least 70%.

But most of the companies who own these leases currently will lose them for good .

I don’t believe Saudi Arabia has the stomach for these prices for very long so the oil war may only last temporarily but this does nothing for the demand side of the equation .

Right now the oil business is dealing with a supply side and a demand side problem all at the same time .

It only takes one of those things to create a crash and right now we are dealing with both

I think corona is causing more of the slide then the oil war .

Like somewhere in the 70/30 range .

Oil would still be above 35 right now even with the lack of an agreement between SA and Russia without the corona .

Years? no fucking way

I think two months tops

You think all of America is gonna look like a month ago in two months, Willie?

Man, I wish I was 20% that optimistic. There is going to be a lot of weeping and gnashing amongst small businesses and hourly employees for a long time, in my opinion. There already is. It's not gonna be corrected with a magic wand.

Additionally, all manner of things are going to look and work a lot different whenever this is over.

Just a hypothetical. What would the business areas of all American cities look like going forward if companies decided that they could successfully operate with the bulk of their employees working from home? Think about that for a few minutes.

Many companies were forced into what they didn't dare try. Other companies and businesses aren't gonna make it. Big changes ahead in my humble opinion. Big. Compared to the life we all knew and operated in only a short month ago.

I wonder how many businesses will soon turn from stores that receive walk in customers to online sales, e.g. Amazon, Ebay. They could still keep their stores or put their merchandise in a cheaper location such as home or a warehouse. Amazon is planning to hire 100K new employees. Is it a good time to buy stock such as Amazon or Ebay, if they are offered on the stock market? Maybe in a few weeks or months stores will open up again to walk in customers & store clerks will be wearing masks as with the medical profession in hospitals & as i see in grocers & pharmacies in Vancouver.

Totally return to normal? Very unlikely

I thought you were saying something like we're going to be in lockdown for two years

When one door closes, another door opens, I've observed this hundreds if not thousands of times

I have a feeling I might be telling myself this in the not too distant future
